Lilly For Target: Part 1

With bright colors, creative patterns, eyelet details, and nice material, who wouldn’t be excited for Target’s Lilly Pulitzer’s Collection? In case this is the first time you’re hearing about the collection coming to Target or you just don’t understand why everyone is so crazy about it, I’m going to take you on a little walk through in this post. Now, let’s get started on 5 reasons why Lilly for Target is the most exciting thing of 2015 so far…

1. The Price

It’s way too easy to go a Lilly Pulitzer store and spend $198 on a single dress. And a bikini? You’ll probably end up spending about $70—on each piece. I get it; it’s name brand clothing, but this price point isn’t so great for those of us who are college students—the demographic I see wanting Lilly most in my personal life.

But at Target, everything is going to be priced from $2 to $250. The best part about the price that I should mention is: majority of the pieces are under $30. Yes. $30 and under. Of course some pieces will be more and less, but still, you can get some Lilly pieces for under $30. This is not a dream. This is reality. Get your credit cards ready ladies.

2. The Patterns

I’m going to be completely honest. When I first saw a few Lilly patterns a few years ago, I wasn’t sold on the brand. I was on the fence. I was never a big pattern-wearing person. But after looking at more of the designs, I completely obsessed over it.

Pastel palm leaves.

Busy blues.

Fabulous florals.

Chic sea shells.

All of these patterns are perfect for summer. They’re bright and cheery. They actually make you really excited about summer. Rumor has it that some of the prints are actually just updated ones of Lilly’s designs over the years—which is an awesome tribute to her (she passed away in 2013).

3. The Style

Majority of Lilly designs are very preppy. This goes for the patterns and the cuts. It’s very flirty and cute. Lots of little details, flowy material, and super cute hems will have you feeling very feminine and polished. Basically everything from Lilly looks absolutely adorable with a pair of wedges and a bold necklace or earrings. The detail on some of the pieces is to die for too. Eyelet hems? Oh my gosh. Whenever I see people wearing Lilly, they just look so happy. They look like super nice people too (I know, wearing a certain brand can make you seem nicer?).

4. The Makeup & Nail Polishes

Since Lilly isn’t going to be launching a makeup or nail care line with its collection, Essie and L’Oreal will be. L’Oreal will be offering exclusive lipsticks. Essie will be coming out with a few nail polishes. I don’t know for a fact, but I definitely think the colors will be coordinating. If you want the same color on your nails and lips to pick up a certain color in your new summer dress—I definitely think you’ll be able to find it.

I think it’s a beautiful thing that all of these brands and coming together for this. Not only is it a smart marketing idea and will generate more money for Target and the brands, but it will also give consumers a one-stop-shop kind of package. I hate when I have to go to different stores just to find a few matching items for an outfit. So…yay! Go team Target!

5. The Variety

I know I haven’t written much about it in this post, but Lilly will also be offering accessories and barware. You’ll be able to find adorable hair accessories to top off your look, and you’ll be able to find matching accessories that will perfect a pool party. After all, who doesn’t love a reason to throw a party? Target has done an awesome job with their commercials for this line. They basically advertise all of the items at a pool party. Not only will you love watching this commercial, but it’ll make you excited and happy for summer.
