One of the First U.S. La Senza Locations Opens In Orland Park
As you stroll along the mall, window shopping and getting a head start on holiday errands, you may have noticed a brand new store that is soon to open: La Senza.
La Senza is a really special store that is coming into Orland Square, not only because it’s a new place to buy lingerie, but because it is one of the first to open in the United States. Rumor has it that there has only been four brought to the United States for the first time ever this year.
I know, super exciting, right?!
Before I get too far into this post, I want to introduce La Senza to you all. La Senza is a Canadian-based lingerie brand. It’s kind of like Canada’s version of Victoria’s Secret. Ironically enough, Victoria’s Secret and La Senza are part of the same family; L Brands Inc.
Under the L Brand Inc. family, you’ll also find PINK, Bath & Body Works, and Henri Bendel. This is why you’ll often find Henri Bendel candles at Bath & Body Works. If you’re familiar with Orland Square, you probably have also noticed that the L Brand Inc. stores—with the exception of Bath & Body Works—are pretty much neighbors to each other—La Senza is as well. Actually, it’s directly above PINK.
So how are Victoria’s Secret and La Senza different? Well, that’s what I’ve been learning about lately. I live in the United States and I have never been into a La Senza in my entire life, so I’ve been researching to the best of my ability so I can try to explain this new store to you all.
The biggest differences I’ve noticed are the product lines, amount of stores, and prices. Victoria’s Secret is a larger brand itself with more than 1,000 locations all over the world. La Senza, however, has a little more than 340. Both brands are available online of course.
As far as products go, La Senza has less product lines. From what I’ve noticed, La Senza doesn’t sell swimwear, sport wear, or beauty products (aside from lotion and lip gloss). La Senza is mostly lingerie and pajamas. In my opinion, La Senza is more of a flirty, playful lingerie brand, while Victoria’s Secret is more of a sexy, bold lifestyle brand.
To compare, Victoria’s Secret has a collection called “Very Sexy” which features different types of bras such as high-neck, bralettes, demi bras, bustiers, balconets, push-ups, etc. La Senza has a similar collection called “Beyond Sexy” which is more limited in their styles of bras in the way that they’re literally all push ups. This is a great thing for women that don’t need a lot of options in terms of style and are really just looking for a cute push-up bra.
La Senza also has a far lower price point that Victoria’s Secret. I searched through the bras on their website and I haven’t seen any that go above $50, while Victoria’s Secret tends to reach above that quite often. To be fair, I have not yet purchased anything from La Senza, so I can’t personally give any input on the quality difference of the products yet. I’m planning on doing a full review of some of the products once the store opens—so look out for that soon!
After looking through the different websites of the two brands, I would say that La Senza is geared towards younger women who want cute lingerie at an affordable price. Victoria’s Secret seems to be marketed towards all women because it has more options, styles, and price points. Both companies carry beautiful products, but I definitely would say that La Senza is the little sister of the two brands.
I’m extremely excited for La Senza to open! I feel like everyone will be able to see the difference between the two brands better in person and be able to become more familiar with La Senza. It’ll be so great to have not only another well-known lingerie store in town, but one that gives shoppers more options. I’m really proud of Orland Square for being one of the first U.S. malls to be the home of La Senza. I’m so excited to be able to have a new store in my hometown.
Luckily, you won’t have to pace by the “coming soon” sign for long, hoping to get a sneak peak of the store. The store is set to open November 16th, 2016 (tomorrow!).
