Aesthetic Gift Wrapping

It's 11 days away from Christmas and you hopefully already have some of your gifts bought for your loved ones. Yay!

But the problem is: now they're sitting around your house in random shopping bags and Amazon boxes. Some are on your dining room table, some on your couch. To be honest, they're actually everywhere.

It's time to wrap your gifts, and I'm ready to teach you how to wrap them so they're aesthetically pleasing.

My family pokes fun at me all the time for wrapping things. I love using wrapping paper and I will find a box for literally anything just so I can wrap it. I think it looks cute and it leaves more mystery as to what it could be.

To create your Christmas wrapping aesthetic, you're going to need to start off with determining a color scheme. If your gifts are going to be sitting under your tree for awhile, try coordinating the wrapping paper and decorations with the colors you decorated your tree with. This year, we did a green tree with red and gold decorations and white lights. As a result, I made my color palette for my gifts red, green, white, and gold.

If you're feeling uninspired, go to Pinterest and check out some of the ways people wrap their own gifts. I do this all the time!

The next thing you're going to do is gather a ton of boxes that will fit your gifts inside. You can get boxes anywhere. The mall, Target, craft stores, etc. I like going to craft stores for mine because they tend to have boxes that a bit more sturdy.

Now the important part, gathering your supplies. The basics you'll need are wrapping paper, ribbon, double-sided tape, and little details.

I like to find wrapping paper that is a solid color, or that has a simple pattern, like stripes. I don't like when the paper has more than two (sometimes three is okay) colors in it because then it sometimes looks too messy when you add the ribbon and decorations to it. I like to use double-sided tape because it then it hides the seams of the wrapping paper (plus you can use a lot more of it if you want and no one will really notice). I always keep a hot glue gun on standby too, but you'll see why in a little bit.

When you're buying ribbon and the little details for your gifts, always look at a craft store. I found some lace ribbon and scrapbooking embellishments that always dress up my gifts. I'm not a big fan of gift tags for people I know I'll spend Christmas with, unless they're super cute ones, so what I'll do a lot of the time is write the person's name on the bottom of the gift, or put a sparkly letter of their initial on the top of the box. Craft stores always have sparkly letter for that.

One of the biggest tips I have for finding embellishments is to go into the ornament section of a store and pick out a small, flat-ish one for your gift. All you do is cut the string off and tie or glue it on.

Before adding ribbon to your gifts, go online and check out a few videos on how to tie bows on gifts. You can get a ton of new ways to show off that festive ribbon you absolutely couldn't help but buy!
