This Is For You On the Days When You Need a Boost

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars."

Did you ever hear that quote when you were little? Because I want you to keep that quote in your mind—especially during this post.

That particular quote is all about inspiration and ambition. It’s about shooting for a goal, no matter how far away it is. Even if a goal seems to be impossible, you should always try, because even if you don’t reach your goal in the end, you’re going to stumble upon something great.

Life has a funny way of working itself out.

But today’s post isn’t entirely about that quote. It’s about you. And giving you the boost you need today (or, at the very least, a distraction).

Whether you’re having doubts about your success, worrying about if you’re doing the “right” thing, hoping for a nasty situation to work itself out, or just simply feeling down, I want you to know that it’s all going to be fine.

If you need a boost today, it’s probably because you’ve been spending your energy elsewhere. In that case, congratulations, you’re already doing something. That’s a lot more than some people are doing. And you should be proud of yourself.

Now I can’t tell you that there’s a secret remedy for feeling like you again. If I could, well, I would’ve shared it with the world a long time ago.

But what I can tell you is to just try doing the following:

  • Get some sleep

  • Drink some water

  • Turn off your phone

  • Read a book or some articles

  • Take a nap

  • Slow down

One of the most important things I just listed is to slow down. So many people get ahead of themselves so quickly, and just end up turning themselves into nervous wrecks.

HOW TO NOT TURN YOURSELF INTO A NERVOUS WRECK 101

Take a deep breath, grab a piece of paper, and literally write down everything that is making you anxious or sad. When you’re done, look at the list. Read through it—slowly—and get comfortable with it.

Now, these are your problems and worries. The only thing you have to do right now, is worry about them day by day. Don’t look at tomorrow’s worries—only today’s.

Good things take time, okay? So give yourself a break. Like I said earlier, life has a funny way of working things out, so just relax and work on the things you can control; one task at a time.

Alright, now that we’ve learned how to not be a nervous wreck, let’s get back to how else we can boost you up.

Something that really helps me when I need a boost is reading. It distracts my mind, inspires me, and sometimes, even relates to me spot-on. I always read articles on sites like Thought Catalog or HuffPost. Here are a few that I think will relate to or be interesting to some of you:

Feeling lost, career struggles, financial worries, and feeling like you're constantly behind are some of the things I feel most 20-somethings tend to feel down about. So hopefully at least one of those articles was calling your name.

Well, it's probably time for you to get back to work, homework, or whatever else you may be doing. I hope that this article helped you get your mind off not-so-great things that may be going on in your day. I purposely wrote it to semi-distract and encourage my readers—so I really hope it helped at least a little bit.

On an end note, just to bring things back to the quote I mentioned earlier, I want you all to keep it in the back of your head. Always shoot for the moon. If anything goes wrong during today, I want you to brush it off and keep succeeding.

You don’t have time to let anything or anyone bring you down—you’re on your way to the moon!
