Babes You Should Know: Hollyn Baron

You know those super adorable mother-daughter photos you see all over Instagram? Well this week's featured blogger has taken some that are sure to have you smiling!

Hollyn Baron is the woman behind her blog, P.S. I'm From the Midwest. On her blog, Hollyn shares her life of living in NYC. She writes about subjects such as family vacations/travel, fashion, gift ideas, and more!

I'm so excited for you all to learn more about Hollyn and her blog! Let's jump right in to it!

Tell me about how you started blogging/influencing…

I'm from Minnesota and am from a huge family. When I moved to NYC everyone kept asking for updates on how NYC was and if I was basically Carrie Bradshaw yet...or not. I started my blog as a way to show what I was doing on the weekends and so that my family could get to know my NYC friends. It stuck!

What has been the biggest struggle for you with blogging, social media, collaborations, etc?

So I hate taking pictures of myself. A pretty big problem but thank god for all the photo editing tools so I don't have to take six thousand photos to get a decent shot.

What advice would you give to those who are experiencing similar struggles and setbacks?

I don't stress to much about my photos and try to focus more on funny anecdotes in my writing and captions because that's what I enjoy the most.

What piece of advice have you gotten that has helped you succeed?

I love Scout in the City and she said that the best camera is the one that you have on you. So I don't stress when I just have iPhone photos and, again, do the best I can with photo editing.

Who do you turn to for inspiration?

I like to be real about what I'm wearing, so I like to check out all the "cool moms" in Brooklyn and post about elevated, comfortable, walkable, washable style for a busy, on-the-go mom like me.

Let's talk Instagram photos! What are your ultimate go-to apps when editing?

Afterlight and Facetune2!

It takes a lot of work to get the perfect IG shot. Do you have any funny moments from shooting?

I take a ton of photos with my two year old, and the other day I tried to get her to kiss me and she literally stuck her tongue in my mouth. Delightful!

Everyone has their own tips when it comes to social media. What are yours?

For any moms out there, all of my posts at the playground do well - I'm not sure why but a "swings moment" always does well.

Have you had an "I made it" moment yet?

Yeah no.

What's next?

We are moving into a new place in our Brooklyn neighborhood and I plan to post lots of home-inspired content!
