I'm Going on a Cruise
...in 8 days.
Not that I'm counting down the days or anything like that (okay, maybe I am).
Everyone needs a little “refresh” once in awhile. That’s not a scientific fact, but it’s something that I believe everyone needs for a better quality of life. My favorite type of refresh is a vacation.
Especially in the winter.
Especially to a warm place. A lot of people laugh when I make the joke that I haven’t been warm since 2009. But it’s true. I’m either freezing, really cold, or less cold. So for me, escaping to a warm place in the middle of winter is pretty close to a necessity. On Christmas, my dad, stepmom, sister, and I decided to book a cruise for February. We leave next week and I couldn’t be more excited.
I've only ever been on one other cruise in my life. I think I was maybe 8 years old. Don't quote me on it. But it was a Carnival Cruise, and from what I remember, it was a blast. Ironically, the cruise that my family booked is also a Carnival Cruise. It'll be fun to see what the cruise is like more than 10 years later as an adult.
I'll make sure to write an in-depth review on everything in case you're thinking of taking a cruise soon. Usually I try to cover the basic features such as the room, restaurants, and service, but I'll make notes of fun activities and need-to-know-before-you-go details. I personally have not looked into reviews because I want to be able to keep my review and opinion completely unbiased for my readers.
Since I'm based in Chicago, it goes without saying that there are no ports relatively close to me to cruise out of. With my stepmom being based in Texas for work at the moment (this was also a main factor in why we're taking a cruise to begin with; there are so many cruises that leave from Texas), we'll be flying out to Houston. From there, we'll be floating our way to Cozumel, Mexico (and back) over the course of a 5-day cruise. It’s a refresh that I’ve been looking forward to for weeks. Upon my return, I plan to bring fresh content, vibrance, and inspiration to all parts of my life, including my blog! I hope you’re all excited as I am.
I have a bunch of new swimwear to try out too, so if you're looking for some new cute suits, make sure you're following me on Instagram. I'll be posting and tagging the brands/sites! I look forward to writing for you next week! I’m thinking of a writing a post regarding what to pack when going on a cruise. I took a poll on Instagram and most of you really wanted to read about travel on my blog at the moment, so that’s what I’m doing for you! I’ll be able to make notes in real-time to bring you raw, authentic thoughts while packing and pack it up all together in a blog post for you to use for your next vacation!
